Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account. Your email address, your password (stored only as a salted hash, never in plain text), when you joined and whether you've confirmed your email.
• What you save. Saved cards and lists (with the price at the moment you saved each card), alerts (what they watch, your price limit, ZIP and distance, retailers), the notifications they create and whether you've read them, and your settings.
• Location. Only the ZIP code you enter. If you tap “Use my location”, your browser sends your coordinates once; we turn them into the nearest ZIP code and keep only the ZIP. Visitors without an account have it kept in their session.
• Messages you send us through the contact form: the message, your email and your name if you give it.
• Technical data. Your IP address and browser type reach our server and appear in its logs. We use them to keep the site secure (sign-in rate limits, spam protection) and to fix problems.

Prices, stock and store details on ssd.live come from retailers' public websites and aren't personal data.

What we don't do

No advertising, no third-party tracking or analytics, no fingerprinting, no selling or “sharing” your personal information for advertising, and no newsletters or marketing email.

Services that help run the site

• Cloudflare delivers and protects the site, so every visit passes through its network. It also runs Turnstile, the quick check on the sign-in, sign-up, password reset and contact forms that tells people from bots. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Resend sends our emails (account emails and the alert emails you set up), so it handles your email address and those messages. Resend's privacy policy.
• OpenStreetMap. On pages with a map your browser loads map images from OpenStreetMap's servers, which can see your IP address. OSM's privacy policy.

The site itself, its database and its fonts and scripts all run on a server we operate ourselves.

Cookies and local storage

Only what the site needs to work. Nothing for ads or analytics.

Emails

We email you only to confirm your address, reset your password, and when an alert you created matches. Every alert email has an unsubscribe link, and you can switch alert emails off in Settings; alerts keep showing in your inbox on the site.

How long we keep things

• Account data stays until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your account, lists, alerts, notifications and settings immediately.
• Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and debugging.
• Contact messages are kept as long as we need them to deal with your request.
• Copies in backups are overwritten on their normal rotation.

Your choices

• See or get a copy of your data, or correct it: most of it is on your account pages; for anything else, contact us.
• Delete everything: Settings → Delete account.
• Stop emails: the unsubscribe link in any alert email, or Settings.

We don't sell or share personal information as defined by California law, so there's nothing to opt out of. We answer privacy requests from anyone, wherever you live.

Children

ssd.live isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has made an account, let us know and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only, passwords are hashed, sign-in forms are rate limited and protected against bots, and we collect as little as we can. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects your data, we'll tell you.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let account holders know by email or on the site. Questions? Use the contact page.
